How to Get Your Skin Camera-Ready

Apparently, business for plastic surgeons is off the charts.

It seems like there are a lot of people who can’t stand looking at themselves on Zoom.

Mary called me last week because she can’t stop staring at the dry patches on her left cheek.

She said, “It’s like that mole on Cindy Crawford’s face!”

Our eyes can’t help but notice it and focus on it.

It’s how our brains work.

But instead of turning Mary into a sexy Supermodel like Cindy, her dry skin patches make her complexion look more like the Wicked Witch of the West...her words, not mine :)

When there are dry patches or discolorations on our face, this means inflammation and most likely oxidative damage to the skin.

The camera magnifies all the imperfections on our faces and makes the blemishes and dark spots more noticeable.

The good news is, the body has an amazing ability to heal itself, as long as you stop doing anything you’re doing that’s hurting the skin in the first place.

That’s why I avoid putting any cleansers, commercial toners, or soap on my skin at all costs.

They alter the natural pH of our skin and destroy its outer layer, causing dryness, inflammation, and damage.

You can’t put out a fire if you keep feeding it wood.

And your skin can’t start to heal until you stop exposing it to harmful chemicals and toxins.

Until then, it’s virtually impossible to get rid of the dryness or blemishes on your skin.

This is the first thing and perhaps the most important thing I’d recommend if you want to get your skin feeling spa-finished and camera-ready!

Dr. Yen and I are talking about putting together a skin fasting and detox challenge.

We want to help get rid of the chemicals and toxins trapped in our skin, so we can stop staring at the blotchy, uneven dry skin on Zoom once and for all :)

If you’re interested, send me a DM at m.me/MaxineWarshFacialRejuvenation and leave me a message that says Skin Detox.

If we get enough response, we’ll put it together :)

Spring is coming soon. Everything will be open again. Sooner or later, we won’t be living on zoom all the time.

While we’re waiting for that glorious day to arrive, if you’d like to tighten and brighten up your skin and you’re interested in the Skin Fasting and Detox Challenge…

Send me a DM at m.me/MaxineWarshFacialRejuvenation and leave me a message that says Skin Detox. or contact me through the website.

If enough of you do that, Dr. Yen and I will get to work :)

Camera shy?

Hey, we’re getting a few women together who are often in front of the camera, on Zoom calls (or out in public) that want to put their best face forward without needles, pain, or downtime.

So, what’s our plan to help these women look their best in front of the camera?

When we want tighter bums or less flabby arms, we go to the gym and work them out.

We also have muscles in our face, and if we can get them in shape, we can enhance our faces naturally, without needles, chemicals, or surgery.

We want to help each other keep the sagging cheeks and jiggling jowls away by exercising our face muscles just like we’d do for tighter bums and toned arms.

This is the secret many Hollywood celebrities use to look young and beautiful in front of the camera. Jennifer Aniston called it the little workout for her face.

I'm not saying we can erase 10 years from our appearance tomorrow and overpromise like everyone else.

The good news is, the changes you will see by working out your face are more permanent and lasting and definitely more natural-looking.

We do this in our 8-Week Beauty Bootcamp, and we’ll teach you how to work out your face naturally in the comfort of your own home using your very own Face Gym in a Box.

Together, we’ll lift and tone our faces naturally and boost collagen production to make our skin smoother and brighter.

We believe every woman deserves to look as young as she feels.

Would you like to join us?

And I’ll get you all the details and an invite if you want in.

2nd Honeymoon?

Hello and Happy Monday, everyone!

Even if it's been a confusing mix of lockdown and slowdowns lately, it's still a good start to the week here.

I wish the same for you!

I’ve been quarantining and letting things drift (aren’t we all?).

So I have been on radio silence longer than I probably have for years.

It felt a little lonely, and I wanted to check in and hope you’re all keeping well and ready to go as soon as things open up again.

I’m celebrating a little already.

Ever since I got out of quarantine last Sunday, it’s been a huge pleasure to be able to walk out the door again.

A small thing, but what a difference a day makes!

Still, it was worth every minute to spend time with my mom in Miami and take care of her.

Weirdly enough, quarantine was also great in its own way because David was stuck with me. Being together, day and night, was like being on a honeymoon all over again!

Even with the lockdowns, Dr. Yen and I have been working away on more we can do to help you look your best (now and for always, of course!).

Stay tuned for Microcurrent Mondays and the next Face Fitness Beauty Bootcamp.

In the meantime, take care and hope you have a good day and stay well.

Please keep me posted if there’s anything on your mind that we might be able to help with.

Here’s to your Ageless Beauty,

Maxine Warsh

P.S. Sometimes when we’re grumpy on the inside, it shows on the outside.

One thing that helped me feel better during the quarantine was daily exercising — even if it was short and sweet.

(So my tip for the day is to remember that movement is good for mood, blood flow, brain-power, and your complexion!)

If you have a question, or you are concerned about the way you look, or you need us to help you, let me know. We are always here for you.

In the meantime, we’re holding you in our thoughts and prayers. Take care and stay safe!!!

Keep your skin clean while wearing a face mask

You may have noticed a buildup of grime, oil, and sweat if you’re wearing a face mask during these times.

Make sure your face is cleared of dirt and grime before and after wearing a mask. Wash (WARSH!) regularly before you wear your mask and after for any periods longer than an hour or so. This will help avoid acne/breakouts, irritation, and redness.

Masks can “trap oil, dirt and sweat… leading to flares of acne, eczema and rosacea.” If worn for long periods or too tightly, they can also lead to inflammation or chafing.

You may find yourself applying makeup more often when you’re back out at the office or working in public again—or if you’re only wearing a mask during close encounters or when physical distancing isn’t always possible. Some office workers take masks off at their desks, for example, and put them on when the public or colleagues are close. In these circumstances, you may need to replace your masks more often.

The key points to remember are to wash your hands before you put one on and when you take it off—being careful to dispose of it without touching the external (front) surface… and then washing your hands right away. Also keep your fingers from touching the front of the mask when you’re wearing it, take off carefully, and either throw away or wash the mask if it’s reusable following instructions. If the mask becomes moist when you’re wearing it, replace or take it off and wash.

The key to good complexion care when wearing a mask is, when you take it off—always wash your face (Warsh with a Warsh Cloth so you don’t dry out your skin with too much soap and chemicals!) after you’ve washed your hands. The Warsh Cloth will remove dirt, grime, and any oil buildup and help keep your complexion fresh and clean.

Carry Warsh Cloths with you to keep your complexion clean and clear.

How to Wash Your Face and Help Your Complexion

DON’T LET YOURSELF GO WRINKLY AND CRINKLY!

Part 1—So what is the best way to wash your face?—

Always, of course, use the Warsh Cloth. That’s a given. And I would say that—but it means you’re starting with a clean slate and doing the best to keep your skin looking youthful and beautiful forever.

You’re using fresh, clean water to clean your skin and not adding the drying chemicals or preservatives that are in most cleansers. Your skin is clean—you’ve washed away all grime and makeup with only water. And you’ve left your complexion fresh and bare—ready to accept and absorb the moisturizing ingredients in your serums and creams. These should be all natural, of course—try the Maxine Warsh Black Label range.

Tips to make sure you’re washing your face correctly:

1) Don’t use hot or cold water on your face.

Go for warm or lukewarm—the extremes of temperature on your face tend to cause broken capillaries and dry it out.

2) Another tip is to use a clean towel. Obviously, you can’t be washing your towels every day—so use a clean corner of one towel or keep hand towels as your personal face towels, and flip them over, use the corners or other small areas—so that you’re drying with a clean towel. And don’t rub—just tap lightly with a towel if you need to.

3) Because… you need to be putting on your serum or moisturizer immediately, onto your still damp skin. Your skin will drink it up—and your complexion will be moist and look better for it. In fact, do this everywhere—when you step out of the bath or shower, blot lightly and add moisturizer all over to give your skin an immediate moist boost (especially in the cool months, when drying heaters and furnaces are running!).

4) Another useful tip is to be sure you brush and clean your teeth before you clean your face—so you don’t get product all over or on top of your moisturizer.

5) Finally—if you’re wearing a mask, give your complexion a WARSH Cloth WARSH(!) when you remove it or as soon after as possible to help keep your skin clean and fresh, clear away oil and other buildup, and avoid breakouts!

HAPPY WARSHING!

More.

Wondering what to get for Christmas?

When we came out of the first lockdown, we were swamped with clients who wanted to get back to treatments again.

They were getting ready to look their holiday best, and thanks to the improvements and new techniques we developed during the first lockdown, clients were getting great results.

Then everything came to a screeching halt, again.

Everything shut down again.

I missed the opportunity to get a haircut because I was so busy.

And, worse, we have to stop seeing clients, again :(

The good news is, we are more prepared this time.

We made the miniPro Microcurrent Unit available for purchase, and we started an online class as well, so clients can start lifting and toning their face at home :)

Last week I got an unexpected call from a young woman in Los Angeles. She wanted to feel beautiful and make other women feel beautiful, too!

She said,

“I just got divorced, and I want to take care of myself and my two kids, so I’m ready to make my dream come true!

“I’m buying myself a miniPRO for Christmas.”

Nice!

I got another call from a WARSH Cloth client who said,

“Maxine, this year, I’m putting myself first and buying a miniPRO.

“I remember you telling me that you give your husband treatments, and I want to do that for my guy, too.

“I told my husband that if he buys me one for Christmas, I’ll give him treatments every week.

“We can stay young together!

“We’re eating better and exercising more, and with a miniPRO, we’re gonna hit it out of the park!

“I’m so excited!”

Nice!

Are you also ready to put yourself first?

After all the waiting and lockdowns and mask-wearing and doom and gloom news, it’s time to start living life fully and to feel better about yourself and life in general.

Since March, I know that I haven’t worn makeup more than five times, and I don’t think I miss it. 🤗

Since I’ve been giving myself more Microcurrent treatments, the need to brighten my face with blush is no longer.

And now there’s a small fortune of makeup that I can give to my granddaughters to play with!

Nice!

Is owning a miniPRO something you’ve been considering for a while?

Are you waiting for the right time?

If you’re ready to put yourself first and give your makeup away, let’s talk.

Is now the right time to commit to your youthful aging?

If the answer is yes, miniPRO training starts again in mid-January.

Let me know if we should save a spot for you.

We have a payment plan to make it easy for you to look and feel your best.

If it’s time for you to learn how to get rid of those droopy eyes, dull skin, and lift the muscles in your face and learn more about keeping your face young and beautiful, let me know.

And after you learn how to take control of your aging, we’ll support you every Monday and make sure you’re staying with your program and invite you to our weekly Microcurrent Monday party where we answer your questions and do our faces together.

How does it get any better than that?

So if you’ve been thinking about getting your younger self back in the mirror, let me know, and I’ll save you a spot.

Would you rather end 2020 on a high note or a low note?

So let’s talk about ends...the end of 2020, to be specific.😅

What would you like to put behind you?

I asked my client, Ginny, what she wanted to leave behind in 2020.

She laughed and said, “That’s easy. My mask!”

Coleen said, “The Quarantine 15 I put on waiting for the lockdown(s) to end and the workout clothes I hung out in all day, every day, (and never worked out!).”

I confess I want to travel again. I visualize the future I want to see.

I get into a meditative state and literally live my best life now. I see myself traveling freely, going to work, and getting together with friends for lunch again!

It’s all about ownership and taking control.

Yes, I can let wearing a mask bother me. Really, it’s not the greatest thing for your skin. Have you heard of Maske yet?

I miss going to Pearl Chinese Cuisine at Bayview Village and having some Dim Sum for lunch. Their Steamed Spinach & Shrimp Dumping is fantastic. You’ve got to try them and support them when they’re allowed to open up again!

I’m concerned about my 90-year-old mother and what all this wackiness is doing to her health—mentally and physically.

But I choose not to let any of this bother me.

I can choose to focus on all the negatives that are going on, things that bother me but are out of my control that I can’t do anything about.

OR

I can take charge of the situation, remember all the blessings I have (my husband who spoils me, a growing business with a new partner, an exciting new way (and new technique that’s helping more women look young and beautiful with less effort), and go on and live the way I want to live, and not let COVID take over my life.

It’s like the serenity prayer.

As 2020 comes to an end, I choose to accept the things I cannot change, have the courage to change the things I can, and pray for wisdom to know the difference.

The same can be said about aging.

There are so many choices to make when it comes to aging.

Some choose just to let aging take over their life and choose not to do anything about it, wishing they would’ve started taking care of themselves earlier.

Some never accept aging as a natural process of life and go to the extreme and turn themselves into someone they don’t even recognize in the mirror.

Fillers, Botox, surgery? All out there for the asking but risky and temporary.

My friend’s husband said: Women (and men) who get “things injected” are just renting their face for a short period of time. You never stop paying for it. The rent money goes up every year, while the room gets older and deteriorates.

I thought that was a brilliant insight!

If we have no choice but to pay the plastic surgeon or Avon just so we can look better in the mirror, we’re just renting our face from them!

What if I tell you there’s a better way?

There’s a way for you to “own your face.”

A way for you to take back control again.

A way for you to slow down or even reverse the effect of gravity pulling on your face.

A natural way to lift and tone your face and brighten your dull skin without having to pay the plastic surgeon or Avon forever and ever.

Something good and positive that’ll help you say goodbye to 2020 on a high note and help you look your best for 2021.

Would you be interested?

Let me know :)

Here’s to Your Ageless Beauty,

Maxine.

How do you feel about 2020 coming close to an end?

Happy it’s finally over? Glad you made it through in one piece? Sad that 2020 had been a wash off?

I think it’s fair to say many, many people think 2021 can’t be here fast enough.

COVID has turned this world upside down, and the “new normal” sure ain't’ that normal at all, to quote what Dr. Yen told me yesterday.

On the other hand, 2020 is a surprisingly good year for some people.

Like for Karen, whom I told you about yesterday.

She started going on long walks with her husband, and they are taking their relationship to the next level.

Or

Dr. Yen who had more time to focus on his health and now has more energy and stamina, and, of course, time to be able to spend more with his three kids and loving it.

Or

Mary, who started working on her Face Fitness—

This is what she told me earlier.

“My skin looks better, my cheeks are fuller, and best of all, I’m feeling refreshed and energized.

“I feel good about myself because I’m getting compliments through Zoom.  I love it!”

Which got me thinking…is there anything I can help you with in this last month of 2020 to feel good, stay young, and look beautiful, so you can finish 2020 strong and waaaay better?

Do you want to have a deeper relationship like Karen?

Do you want to have more energy and stamina like Dr. Yen?

Or do you just want to feel good and look beautiful like Mary?

I want to do something special to help you finish 2020 feeling good about yourself and the people around you.

Pandemic or not, we all deserve to have some fun and some happiness as we say goodbye to 2020 and, more importantly, to get yourself prepared and ready to welcome 2021 and make it the best year of your life.

I’m inspired by what’s happening to Karen, Dr. Yen, and Mary, and If you want the same thing for your life, and you’d like some help to get there, please let me know.

I’ll be more than happy to help you make this the best December of your life.

Let me know.  I look forward to connecting with you.

How Will You Remember 2020?

I know you are sick and tired of hearing that we are in "unprecedented times" right now!

Yes, we all know..... :)

The important thing to ask, however, is, what does this mean for me? For my family? For my mental well-being? For my overall health?

People around me are gaining weight like nobody's business.

Quarantine 15 is a real thing!

I see people being sad and depressed because they can't go out to eat and shop.

My business partner Dr. Steven Yen tells me he's seeing more and more patients with elbow and finger issues because they're spending too much time on the phone playing games.

A lot of people are not in a good place right now.

The long line up at LCBO and the Beer,Store kind of says it all.

But…

I also see Karen, who used this time to connect with her husband.

They started going on long walks and having deep, meaningful conversations during the walks that helped them understand each other better.

Or

Dr. Yen, who started the breath work journey with me a few months ago—

He said he feels like a much better father because he now has the energy to play with his three kids.

Instead of sleeping away a somewhat chilly but nice and sunny Sunday afternoon yesterday, he played basketball with his three kids, and the whole family went out for a nice walk in Unionville.

The kids had a blast, and so did he and his wife.

That's why we now include the breath work as part of the Face Fitness Facial Rejuvenation Program :)

Or

Mary, who was always too busy working and never had time for herself—

Before Mary joined our Face Fitness Bootcamp, she told me all she wanted was to feel more refreshed and have more energy.

Last week, she called and thanked me because she hasn't felt this good about herself in years.

She's no longer self-conscious about how she looks on Zoom.

In her own words—

Her skin looks better, her cheeks fuller, and best of all, she feels refreshed and energized.

For many people, 2020 has been a challenge or even a crisis.

For them, 2020 can't be over soon enough.

I understand that.

My heart goes out to them.

And I sincerely hope 2021 will be a much, much better year for everyone.

But for some of us, we choose to view 2020 as a blessing.

It gives us the gift of time, so we can do the things we always wanted to do but couldn't,because we were too busy.

It offers us more opportunities to spend time with our loved ones and connect with them.

It forced us to slow down and appreciate what we have in our life. For many of us, pandemic or not, we have plenty.

It also reminds us of the importance of staying healthy, physically, mentally, and, dare I say, spiritually.

Tomorrow will be December 1st.

It's the beginning of the end for the year 2020.

If you can't wait for this year to be over, hang in there. There's light at the end of the tunnel.

But if you still want to turn 2020 into a blessing, it's not too late.

One of the biggest blessings for me in 2020 is I "re-discovered" the wonderful benefit of breathing properly.

In the last few months, Dr. Yen and I spent a lot of time learning, tweaking, and improving our breath.

We've never had the time to do that in the past, and we're really grateful for this gift of time from COVID.

I realized that, in the past, when I tried to take a deep breath during exercise or stress, I was instead taking a big breath.

They may sound the same to you, but there's a world of difference between the two.

When you take a big breath, most of the air stays in the top part of your lungs, and the oxygen you need cannot get to your blood and tissues, so you're not able to use it.

When you learn how to take a deep breath properly, you're able to get the air down to the lower part of your lungs, and according to Patrick Mckeown, author of Oxygen Advantage, you'll get at least 50% more oxygen into your blood and your tissues.

Imagine how much better you'll feel if you can get 50% more oxygen into your system with every breath you take!

For me, it's making a world of difference.

I'm sleeping better.

I'm sleeping more calmly.

I'm definitely healthier.

My face looks refreshed and energized.

And my skin is getting smoother and brighter.

I'm seeing the same things happening to Dr. Yen, my husband David, and many of my clients as well.

It's hard for me to describe to you how excited I am about this because of all the life-changing experiences clients are sharing with me!

And I'd like to invite you to turn 2020 into a blessing with me.

Dr. Yen and I are helping a few women with the breath work we've developed.

Helping them take better and deeper breaths, so they feel better, calmer, and healthier.

We don't want you to finish the year with the COVID Blues.

So if you'd like to join us and take some deep breaths with us, just let me know.

I promise, and I don't say this often.

In fact, I don't think I've ever said this to you.

But here it goes—

If you're interested, let me know. Come join us and take some deep breaths together.

I promise this will change your life.

Here's to Your Ageless Beauty,

Maxine

Tired Eyes?

They say that eyes don’t lie, and Angie’s eyes say she’s tired.

The puffiness and dark circles are dead giveaways.

It’s gotten so bad her boss wanted to know if she was getting enough sleep.

Angie said she blurted to her boss, “No, no, I’m fine. Perfect.”

Only she wasn’t.

Long story short—as soon as she saw Dr. Yen, she had questions.

Did she need a month-long nap? Or could Face Fitness and microcurrent fix her drooping eyes? HELP!

The answer is YES.  Of course, Face Fitness can help.

You know I’d say that, but it’s not a simple yes.

Face Fitness is not only about working out the facial muscles to lift those droopy eyelids.

We all know the benefits of exercise.

Exercise helps to lift and tone your muscles.
Exercise boosts energy.
Exercise promotes better sleep.
Exercise reduces blood pressure.

It does all that and much more because exercise increases blood circulation and body oxygenation.

Which is what Angie needs if she wants to get rid of her puffiness and dark circles.

Working on your Face Fitness not only helps lift and tone your face, it also increases circulation and oxygenation to your face to help you get rid of those puffy eyes and dark circles.

Your complexion improves all over, and your whole face looks better—like your body does when you’ve exercised, and you’re toned and oxygenated. You look fit.

Only now you’ll be Face Fit. The skin will feel plumper and firmer, have more bounce. Fine lines seem to fade.

Racoon eyes become a thing of the past!

You’ll wave good-bye to the horrible bags, puffiness, and black circles that add years to age.

After going through the Face Fitness Anti-Aging Treatments, Angie said she has way more confidence and energy—and everybody tells her it’s nice to see her smiley face again, even with a mask on! 😊

Her eyes tell the right story.

Let me know if you want to get on the Face Fitness track—learn the-at-home tips, tricks, and techniques to look better and feel better.

We’re thinking of scheduling a Face Fitness Anti-Aging Workshop (on Zoom) on how to bring youth back to your eyes—to help you get rid of those telltale bags, sags, and droops—around the eyes and elsewhere!

Let me know if you would like to watch and learn!

How's Your Sleep??

Do you snore? Wake up with a dry mouth or a sore throat? Sleep restlessly?

Do you have allergies or dry lips and dry skin?

Or do you wake up looking like Sleeping Beauty, glowing and rested after 100 years and kissed back to reality by a handsome prince? 😉

If you're anything like me, you want to look as good as you feel because looking good makes you feel good.

It's not rocket science.

But did you know that breathing correctly IS a science?

Breathing properly is probably the #1 most important thing you do.

After all, breathing is what keeps you alive!

In my 20 years of practicing anti-aging, I have always practiced what I preach and have looked for improvements to share with my clients to maintain their youthful/ageless beauty.

Did you know that next month I'll be 67?

I feel better than ever and have even more enthusiasm for sharing my methods with anyone who will listen.

Most of you know that I have partnered with Dr. Steven Yen, who brings his brilliant knowledge of muscles to revamp my anti-aging facial rejuvenation treatment and bring it to the next level.

Both Dr. Yen and I are very excited about researching and practicing anti-aging information and sharing it with you after testing it ourselves.

For the past few months, we've been improving the way we breathe. And our breathing practice has been improving us :)

We both look and feel better and better.

We laugh because it takes us both by surprise when we notice the improvements in each other. It's like, "Hey, you really look good!" And then we'll start telling each other about other improvements we're noticing.

If you don't know what our (not so!) secret breathing practice is…

The number one thing we focus on is making sure we breathe through the nose and not through the mouth.

It sounds so simple. But it's actually easier said than done.

It took a few weeks for me to help my client Beth breathe properly and convince her she needs to tape her mouth before she goes to bed to maintain nose breathing while she sleeps.

She called me last night, raving about the results of breath exercises and mouth taping.

Although it took me a while to convince her about the mouth taping part, she finally did, and it made a world of difference.

She said, for the first time in her life, she finally knows how Sleeping Beauty feels when she wakes up in the morning :)

When I asked her why she finally agreed to tape her mouth, Beth said she saw that I kept looking better, and she wanted to see if it would do the same for her.

We're thinking of putting a workshop together to help you breathe better, look younger, and feel healthier (like Sleeping Beauty and Beth!).

What we'll do is to help you get rid of your tired-looking eyes and dull-looking skin.

If you're interested, let me know :)

Losing Her Face to Gravity :(

Droopy eyelids, sagging jowls, wrinkly forehead, turkey neck… Maggie's starting to see these on her face and knows she's losing the war against gravity.

At 54, she's in a good place right now with her family, her job, and life in general.

She sure wouldn't want to be 34 again.

Changing diapers and rushing from work to pick up the kids from school was not her idea of a fun time.

She doesn't even want to be 44 again.

Teenage girls and perimenopause do not mix well.  Period.

What she wouldn't mind is looking 44 again!

Raising a family and running a successful real estate business means she doesn't have a lot of time for herself.

And it shows.

She looks old and tired and, worse, she feels it, too :(

That's why she was on the phone with me asking me about the 12 Week Face Fitness Makeover.

To her surprise, I told her that's not the best place for her to start.

Yes, the 12 Week Face Fitness Makeover will absolutely tighten and tone her face muscles and help sculpt and lift her face.

But you don't go into the gym and immediately start working on your biceps.

And you shouldn't be working out your 43 face muscles without properly warming up the face and getting them ready to work.

Instead, I asked her to go through the Face Fitness Quick Start with me.

By investing 15 minutes a day on herself for 30 days, she can (and did) look five years younger and, more importantly, she felt ten years better.

There are a few things we focus on during the Face Fitness Quick Start.

We corrected her face posture.  By doing that, we SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the force of gravity that's constantly pulling her face downward.

We also increased blood circulation to her face and showed her how to increase hydration to her body by 40%, so her skin becomes smoother and healthier.

We dramatically improved her sleep quality, so she can wake up in the morning looking refreshed and feeling rested and ready to go.

We increased oxygen delivery to the tissues to boost her skin's cellular repair and regeneration, so she looks younger and feels revitalized.

Because Maggie was an excellent student and followed our instructions and did her homework diligently, the results were amazing (if I may say so myself!).

Her husband said she looked better than when she was 44, and she felt way waaaaay better than she did at 44.

Dr. Yen and I are putting together a small group of women to teach and coach through a 30 Day Face Fitness Quick Start.

If you think looking five years younger and feeling ten years healthier is worth spending 15 minutes a day on yourself for 30 days, and you'd like an invitation from us to join the 30 Day Face Fitness Quick Start, contact me.

“Maskne” Break Out?

With everyone wearing a mask these days, there’s an unintended consequence “breaking out” in strange new spots on the face.

Yes, masks can save lives.  So wear your mask.

But the friction and irritations caused by wearing a mask are pushing bacteria into the skin, creating micro-tears and inflammation, which is leading to…“MASKNE!”

I just learned this new word from my client Tina, which she learned from her dermatologist last week.

ACNE brought on by wearing a face mask :(

Apparently, dermatologists have known about this for a while now, thanks to the SARS “crisis” years ago.

(Boy, as bad as it was during SARS, I’m officially calling it the good old days compared to this monster we’re dealing with known as COVID.)

According to dermatologist Dr. Tiffany J. Libby, “maskne” usually breaks out at the bridge of the nose, chin, and cheeks. It can take the form of whiteheads, blackheads, abrasions, and cysts.

To avoid (or fix) maskne, there are two things you need to do.

First, make sure you clean your face PROPERLY.

Properly is the keyword.

You want to make sure you get rid of all the germs, grime, and urban dust from your face, without harming the crucial acid mantle that protects your skin.

Second, you want to make sure you keep the skin healthy and fully hydrated.

Hint hint.  Drinking lots and lots of water and slathering your skin with moisturizer alone is NOT enough.

Beauty is not just skin deep, and your face is not only your skin.

If you want to keep your skin healthy and hydrated, you need to make sure you go beyond the skin and look at what’s underneath the skin.

Your 43 facial muscles act like a bump to increase circulation to your face while draining all the waste and toxins away from your skin.

This means you won’t have smooth, silky, healthy, beautiful skin if you don’t have face fitness!

Dr. Yen and I are thinking of helping a small group of women who want to work on their face fitness instead of just masking their age with lotions, potions, makeup, fillers, or botox.

We’ll show you and coach you through the Face Fitness Fundamentals designed specifically to revitalize your face, get rid of the tired look, and restore your youthful, healthy glow.

We’re calling it the Face Fitness 30 Day Quick Start.

If you’re willing to invest 15 minutes a day for 30 days on yourself, we’ll help you look at least five years younger and feel ten years healthier.

If that interests you and you want some more information, please contact me. Email here.

One thing I do want to make clear—this is not for everyone.

It does require some “work” on your part.

You’ll need to be coachable and willing to listen to instructions and make some adjustments in your beauty routine.

One of the first things we’ll be asking you to do is to tape your mouth when you sleep.

It helped Dr. Yen get rid of his bad breath; it helped Joanne get rid of her snoring; it helped Jenny with her canker sore; it helped Tina get rid of her dry mouth, and it will help YOU get the best beauty sleep you ever have.

If you’re not willing to do that, this is probably not for you.

On the other hand, if you think looking five years younger and feeling ten years healthier is worth 15 minutes of your time for 30 days, I invite you to join us.

Contact me, and I’ll send you a few questions to see if and how we’ll be able to help you and if we’re a good fit to work together.

And remember, wear your mask, wash your face properly (we’ll show you how during the Face Fitness 30 Day Quick Start), and stay safe.

Dry, Crepey Skin?

I just got home from visiting my (soon to be!) 94-year-old mother in Miami.

It was wonderful to see her.

We had a great visit and even got to go to our favorite flea market wearing our clear masks :)

Love you, Mom.

While there, I had an email from Dianna about what she called her crepey-looking face.

She said she had chapped lips.

And dry, itchy skin.

She wasn’t feeling good. I told Dianna about my walk on the beach.

(This is one of my favorite things to do in Miami! I get lost in time walking on the sand.)

It’s very relaxing, but it’s hard work.

You’ve really got to push with each step you take.

(According to Dr. Yen, walking barefoot on the beach is one of the best ways to exercise your feet, relax your hamstrings, and get rid of back pain. He had some big, long, scientific explanation(!). If you’re interested, ask him on the Facebook Group.)

Since I’ve been focusing on helping clients jump start Face Fitness by keeping their mouths closed and their tongues resting on the roof of the mouth, I figured I should do it whenever I could, too.

So I paid attention to my breathing.

I walked on the beach and kept my mouth closed.

I breathed only through my nose and kept my tongue resting gently on the roof of the mouth.

To my amazement, I noticed that my nostrils were sweating. This was so interesting. My nose wasn’t running…it was sweating.

I walked 2X longer, didn’t feel tired, and after I finished the walk, I wasn’t thirsty.

This all happened because keeping your mouth closed (at ALL TIMES except when you’re talking/eating etc., including when you’re sleeping), helps your body to stay hydrated.

When you breathe through your mouth, you lose 40% more water.

Your body dehydrates faster, and you lose essential bodily fluids quicker. Not to mention it dries out your complexion.

Other side effects of breathing through your mouth? Your mouth gets dry. You can even develop tooth decay or gum disease. Plus your breath won’t smell good.

Another big thing? Breathing through your nose keeps you more hydrated at night. You might not have to get up so often to you-know-what!

So the most important thing Dianna and everyone can do to keep your body and face hydrated and skin supple and moist—and get all these great extra benefits?

It’s to keep your mouth shut whenever you can!!!

Breathe through your nose. For the sake of your health AND your skin.

This is why mouth position is the FIRST thing we work on during the 12-Week Face Fitness Makeover.

My friend Hyde told me that, after two weeks, her dry mouth cleared up. Plus, she stopped waking up at night for a drink of water or to use the washroom. Her hydrated body let her sleep on.

Jennie’s big breakthrough was in makeup. After three weeks of treatment, Jennie said she doesn’t need so much.  She thinks it’s because her well-hydrated and toned face is far less crepey already.

Keeping your mouth closed AND your tongue in position are keys to hydration and good health.

We continue to focus on this and other natural ways to improve your skin health and care throughout the 12-Week Face Fitness Makeover—you’ll find this Makeover is good for more than your skin; it has anti-aging benefits.

But it’s kind of like walking on the beach—fun and relaxing, yet it takes a little work (i.e., time—up to 12 weeks) to get the maximum result.

But then, like walking on the beach… the benefits keep on giving, accumulating, and improving, as in, the more walking on the beach you do, the better it is.

The Face Fitness Makeover is the best way to get rid of dry skin, chapped lips, and crepey wrinkles naturally as well as bags, sags, and wrinkles.

And if that’s something you’re interested in, I invite you to come in the office and have a Face Fitness Workout with us.

We’ll work on your facial posture, reduce and release any tension on your face, and tone up your 43 facial muscles.

You’ll start to feel and look like yourself again—and likely feel better in other ways as your body and your skin adjusts to its new rejuvenating routine.

Contact me through the website if you’re interested.

We’d love to show you how you can stay ageless and look beautiful in your 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond.

Improve your mood with the right foods

“The experts say that you can improve your mood and your focus with your dietary choices, as well as your health.” This is particularly important now with the uncertainties many of us are dealing with.

FEELING ANXIOUS?
Have more Vitamin C to improve your mood and reduce anxiety levels and even boost your confidence(!). Make the great metabolism booster “Immune Juice” with orange juice, turmeric, green tea and more to start your day from my friends at passioniscooking.com.

NEED TO FEEL SHARP?
The answer is to eat more leafy greens with Vitamin K and other vitamins and antioxidants with a chaser of healthy fats to boost absorption.

WANT MORE ENERGY?

Try breakfast with macronutrients (carbs, healthy fat, and protein) and matcha tea for a natural energy boost. More on what to eat to feel better and improve your mood.

Don't forget your liquids--even mild dehydration can affect your mood and make it harder to focus and complete tasks.

BLOOD SUGAR ISSUES

According to Everyday Health, certain foods help in the battle with depression and mood swings. The key is stabilizing blood sugar levels.

Turn to fiber and make it an integral part of your diet, because foods that are slow to digest help maintain blood sugar levels and this also helps your mood stay level. Combining protein with carbs (chicken, fish, eggs, seeds, nuts with healthy whole grains, for example) also slows digestion and helps with blood sugar levels. Avoid simple sugars such as soft drinks and candy as this leads to spikes in your blood sugar making you feel cranky and irritable.

So instead of reaching for comfort foods to cheer yourself up, choose foods that will actually make you feel better.

$284 Skin Moisturizer?

Annie’s tempted to buy a new skin moisturizer that’s supposed to help get rid of her dry skin.

She asked for my opinion.

Actually, it’s more like her husband wants me to “talk some sense into her.”

Apparently, he thinks spending $284 on a bottle of skin moisturizer is too much for him.

I laughed and told them both about the new book I just finished reading.

The book is called Breath.

It’s written by journalist James Nester. If you want to sleep better, look younger, and stay healthy forever, or at least for as long as you can, this is a must-read!

I got into this book because he talked about the importance of breathing through the nose.

As you know, I, too, have been talking about that for a while. Because I now consider this the NUMBER ONE anti-aging secret.

Before you consider doing anything to help yourself stay young and look beautiful, and I mean ANYTHING, make sure the first thing you do is breathe through your nose and NOT through your mouth!

Before considering botox, make sure you first breathe through the nose.

Before getting a filler, make sure you first breathe through the nose.

Before you get your eyebrow tattooed, before getting a facial, before buying the next bottle of lotions and potions (or $284 Skin Moisturizer), MAKE SURE YOU'RE FIRST BREATHING THROUGH YOUR NOSE!

Yes.  Breathing through your nose and not through your mouth is so important, I’ll even put that before getting a microcurrent treatment.

(Actually, I think this is sooo important and effective in helping you stay ageless and look beautiful, that we’ve officially made this part of the Face Fitness workout! We do that during the "warmup" portion of the Face Fitness workout, to help get the circulation flowing and your face ready for the best result.)

James Nester, the author of Breath, wanted to prove how bad mouth breathing is for our health.

He paid a nasal and sinus surgeon,  Dr. Jayakar Nayak, from the Stanford Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center $5,000 to plug his nose with silicone plugs for ten days, just to see how his body would react.

Here’s what he said about the whole experience:

"I went from snoring a couple of minutes a night to, within three days, I was snoring four hours a night," he says of the forced mouth-breathing. "I developed sleep apnea. My stress levels were off the charts. My nervous system was a mess... I felt awful."

Not only will breathing through your mouth make you feel awful, it will make you look older and less beautiful.

Think about a couch potato, slouching on the sofa, not engaging her core muscles.

When you breathe through your mouth and not through your nose, your whole face is slouching because the tongue (which is the “core muscle” for the face) isn’t supporting your face. You’re just willy-nilly letting gravity take over and pull your face down.

Breathing through the nose also helps the body conserve 40% more moisture, so you’ll have less dry mouth and dry skin, which is what happened to Dr. Yen.

Just like me, he’s been focusing on nose breathing for a few months now, and he told me his mouth doesn't feel dry in the morning anymore.

His wife told him his skin feels smoother, and his kids told him his breath doesn't stink any more.

I told Annie to give this a try and wait on the $284 cream.

She didn’t want to listen. She bought the cream anyway.  Guess you can’t help everyone every time :(

If you want to learn more about how to breathe properly, through your nose and not through your mouth, and if you want to learn how to tape your mouth at night when you go to sleep (which quite a few of you seem to be interested in), come and join me on the Microcurrent Monday Q and A.

Weird Wrinkles?

Friends had been asking Emma all year, “What’s happening to your eyes? They look weird.”

It upset her like nothing else because she’d had botox! So she’d laugh it off, pretend it was nothing.

But denial didn’t help. Because when she took a proper look, she could see it herself.

There WAS something weird happening.

Wrinkles.

NEW wrinkles.

They hadn’t been there before botox—they began to show AFTER!

They were at the bridge of the nose. A little googling later, she found they even had a name.

“Bunny Lines.”

Emma was very upset and not sure whether she should complain or if she just needed more botox!

Apparently, this is a rather common side effect of botox, and there are pictures of celebs like Nicole Kidman and Kim Cattrall with these “Bunny Lines” floating around on the internet.

That’s why I always say artificial beauty is temporary beauty because the body will ALWAYS compensate when things don’t work!

It reminds me of the back pain I had last week.

I woke up in the morning and noticed my lower back was super tight.

Dr. Yen— a very experienced chiropractor—said he could help.

But instead of working on my lower back where it was hurting, he worked on my pelvis.  Particularly on my gluteal area.

I raised my eyebrows. “The pain is in my lower back. Not my pelvis!”

He just smiled and kept going with the treatment.

When he was done, he asked me to stand up and WOW! My back felt so much better!

Apparently my right glutes weren't working as they should. They couldn’t “keep my pelvis stable,” according to Dr. Yen.

So my body compensated, and my lower back muscles went into overdrive, trying to do the job that my right glutes were supposed to.

When muscles aren’t working right, other nearby muscles try to take over.

That’s how the body works, and that’s what’s causing the new wrinkles on Emma’s face.

Dermatologists call it recruitment.

After botox, if you try to smile or frown, the treated muscles can’t move because they’re paralyzed by botox. So those nearby muscles kick in to compensate… and voila—“Bunny Lines.”

Here at Ageless Beauty, we take a completely different approach.

We understand the “enemy” is gravity. And to help your face overcome the constant downward pull from gravity, we need to tone your facial muscles, not paralyze them with botulinum toxin, i.e., botox.

We don’t need needles that cause wrinkles to pop up in new places.

We need to tone and strengthen our muscles, and get the muscle working better at opening your eyes, lifting the cheeks, and supporting the jaw line.

This is what a Face Fitness workout is all about.

It really is like a regular gym session—except for the face.

Here is the Face Fitness 4-Step Workout Routine:

First, we warm up the face to get the blood flowing.

Then we do some “stretching” with facial massage to get rid of any excess tension on your face.

Proper warmup and stretching prevent injury during a regular body workout and are just as important for Face Fitness.

Even just doing this part is good for you—the same way a gym warmup or a little exercise helps overall wellness!

After your facial muscles are warmed up and stretched, you’re ready for an actual workout with microcurrent.

After that, you’ll cool down the face and redistribute the blood flow.

This will allow your face to relax and reduce the chances of muscle cramps and stiffness -- exactly the same as in the gym.

So the short story (smiling—I know this is a long email!) is that Emma nixed botox and tried Face Fitness.

In only a month, her facial features started to soften up and look less rigid. And the wrinkles are definitely fading.

There’s still a little to do—it’s not overnight—but the good thing about Face Fitness (and microcurrent—umm, had to slip it in!) is that it’s more gradual and it’s cumulative.

Improvement on top of improvement.

Emma feels good already and will feel even better next month.

I know I’m throwing a lot at you.

Facial Tug of War with Gravity???

A lot of you are asking a lot of questions about Face Fitness lately.

Joanne is considering having botox to get rid of wrinkles but is scared of the long term side effects.  She wants to know if Face Fitness is a better option.

Janne had botox already and wants to know if the Face Fitness Bootcamp can still help her.

Marlene never had botox in the past, but she had quite a few fillers and wondered if Face Fitness is a more permanent solution to help with her laugh lines.

Betty just wants to know more about Face Fitness in general. She’s “intrigued” with the whole concept of working on the facial muscles to get a non-invasive facelift.

There are two ways to get a slimmer waistline.

You can put on a corset, or you can work on your abs.

One’s quicker, but it’s only a short term solution.

The other takes longer (and more work), but results look better and last longer, too.

What can I say? Natural is BEST!

Artificial beauty is always temporary beauty.

The same thing goes with your face.

There are artificial ways to mask the effect of gravity on your face.  They work fast but have their downsides.

OR

You can work on your facial muscles and give yourself a natural, non-invasive “FACELIFT” :)

It does take a bit longer (usually between 6 to 12 weeks), but the results look better and last longer, too.

After speaking to so many of you, Dr. Yen decided  to start doing some Q & A sessions to answer any questions you have on Face Fitness, or anything that’ll help you stay ageless and look beautiful.

We also want to share with you some simple and very effective exercise you can do at home to lift and tone your facial muscles.

We don’t have a fancy name for this yet, so for now, we’re just calling in Face Fitness Monday Q & A, and it’s going to be on Monday, September 28, at 2:00 EST.

We’ve created an “event” on the Ageless Beauty Facebook group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/AgelessBeautyandCosmetics/permalink/362528374749691/

If you have any questions regarding Face Fitness or anything regarding your face, please post your questions on the comment section.

Dr. Yen and I will go through them first (and do some research if necessary), and we’ll answer them during the Face Fitness Monday Q & A.

If you want to join us live, register for the event on Facebook. Or you can let me know.  I’ll send you a link for the live meeting once I know you’re coming.

So, if you have questions on how you can free your face from gravity’s constant pull with Face Fitness.

Or you want to see what are the best options to help get rid of your dark circles.

Or you just want to know how to keep your skin moist and smooth—

Whatever questions you may have, as long as they are related to your face, I invite you to join our Face Fitness Monday Q & A.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/AgelessBeautyandCosmetics/permalink/362528374749691/

Post any questions you have on the comment section on Facebook or contact me.

Register for the event on Facebook.

I’ll see you next Monday :)

Clean makeup brushes equals fewer wrinkles

It may not be surprising that using dirty makeup brushes deposits grime, germs, and oils on your skin contributing to flareups of acne and making you lose your glow. Using less than clean makeup tools and brushes can cause clogged pores and irritate the skin.

But keeping your makeup brushes and sponges spotless will also help you avoid wrinkles—as . this can contribute to the proliferation of free radicals and create lines and sags. An over-abundance of free radicals can lead to oxidative stress and this to the destruction of collagen and estrogen, so more wrinkles, less volume and bounce.

The easy answer is to make sure your implements, makeup sponges, and makeup brushes are spotless—and your fingertips, too. More on this story from mindbodygreen.

The best recommendation is to wash morning and night (and in-between mask wearings as behind the mask skin tends to get hot, oily, and sweaty!) with a Warsh Cloth. This miracle-worker makeup remover cloth cleans your skin of makeup and grime with only water—and exfoliates gently at the same time. Since we wash the Warsh Cloth between uses in hot, soapy water—we’re avoiding wrinkles in more ways than one!
